|A Scientific Interest in Trouble|
Episode Info Edit
In Cambridge, England, the members of Mystery, Inc. attend a lecture of one of Cambridge University's most distinguished scientists, Professor David Lewinthal. Lewinthal is a theoretical physicist searching for the graviton. With a team of scientists, Lewinthal has built a particle accelerator for the purpose of discovering gravitons. Mystery, Inc. has taken an interest in the project, but they are not alone. With them is a teenage girl named Sabrina Spellman who is a friend of Josie and the Pussycats and who has just met the gang. Fred becomes suspicious and has Shaggy and Scooby-Doo spy on Sabrina and her aunts. They hear their cat, Salem, talking and see Sabrina conjure up a glass of water when she gets thirsty. It becomes clear to them that Sabrina is a witch. Shaggy and Scooby tell the others, including Professor Lewinthal. Sabrina has no choice but to tell Mystery, Inc and Professor Lewinthal that Shaggy and Scooby-Doo are saying is true. Lewinthal becomes interested in finding a scientific explanation for the existence of witches, but finding the graviton comes first. The next morning, at the lab, Professor Lewinthal wonders whether one of his fellow scientists, who is anti-Semitic, should be fired. He decides to deal with that question as the particle accelerator is turned on with Mystery, Inc. and the witches watching. The graviton is discovered successfully, but then, there is trouble. The particle accelerator overloads. With no way to stop it from exploding, everyone in the lab evacuate except the anti-Semite who is caught which turns him into a super-powered villain with gravity-based powers called the Gravity Monster. Now, the gang must stop the Gravity Monster before he destroys the world, but how? Sabrina is still learning how to control her powers, but she must defeat the Gravity Monster. Both science and magic will be necessary for this fight.
